Ethics and Compliance Officer Association Elects New Board Chair and Vice-Chair
Waltham, Massachusetts—June 8, 2010—Ethics and Compliance Officer Association (ECOA) has elected Andrea Bonime-Blanc and Jacqueline E. Brevard as its new Board of Directors' chair and vice-chair, respectively, at its board meeting held on May 4 in Orlando, Florida. Their two-year terms begin July 1, 2010. Andrea and Jacqueline succeed James Berg and Jack Radke, respectively. “Jim Berg and Jack Radke brought wisdom and a steady hand that helped ECOA succeed and grow in the midst of historic challenges in the world. Looking ahead, we are extremely excited and welcome the new energy, creativity, and leadership that Andrea and Jacquie will continue to provide our association,” says Keith Darcy, ECOA’s executive director.
Andrea Bonime-Blanc is general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary for Daylight Forensic & Advisory LLC. Recently, Daylight Forensic & Advisory was acquired by Navigant Consulting, Inc. Next month, Andrea will be joining Navigant Consulting as associate general counsel and director of ethics and compliance. Navigant Consulting (NYSE:NCI) is a specialized independent global consulting firm providing dispute, financial, regulatory and operational advisory services to government agencies, legal counsel and large companies.
Ms. Bonime-Blanc previously served as chief ethics & compliance officer for Bertelsmann, where she established and launched the global ethics and compliance program for 100,000 employees in 60 countries for operations covering publishing, music, magazines, television, manufacturing, and technology. Ms. Bonime-Blanc earlier served as general counsel and head of compliance; external relations; and environmental, health, and safety for the global division of PSEG, a global energy company. In addition, she practiced law at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP and King & Spalding LLP where she specialized in international project financing. Ms. Bonime-Blanc is an adjunct faculty member at NYU’s School for Continuing and Professional Studies. She holds a joint J.D. degree in law and Ph.D. degree in political science from Columbia University.
Jacqueline E. Brevard is the vice president and chief ethics officer of Merck & Co., Inc. and leads the Merck Office of Ethics—a corporate function created to support and foster the company's commitment to high standards of business ethics worldwide. Ms. Brevard leads Merck's Global Ethics Program and Ombudsman Program and reports regularly to the chief executive officer and Executive Committee.
Ms. Brevard joined Merck in 1981, serving as an international attorney, and during her fourteen-year tenure in the Legal Department, occupied positions with responsibility for all legal matters, with emphasis on commercial transactions in Europe, Latin America, Canada, Asia, East Europe, Mid-East, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. In May 1995, Ms. Brevard was named chief ethics officer and established Merck's first Office of Ethics and its Ombudsman Program. From 2004-2009, the company's Compliance Program and Ethics Program were consolidated under her leadership. Ms. Brevard earned a J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law and an LLM degree in International Law from New York University School of Law.
