The State of Corporate Social Responsibility in Korea

Corporate Social Responsibility is becoming an increasingly vital part of every company’s ethics and compliance program in this competitive and global marketplace. This session will discuss the status of CSR in South Korea, including its history, perception, and the current challenges and obstacles it confronts. SK Group, South Korea’s third largest conglomerate, with over 30,000 employees in 113 offices worldwide, will present its CSR program as an example of a strong and developing initiative. The session will also describe how improvements in corporate governance have influenced and aided the development of CSR. Finally, Mr. Nam will highlight several unresolved issues that must be addressed for CSR initiatives to succeed, not only in Asia, but around the globe.
