Intercollegiate Business Ethics Case Competition: Leveraging the Relationship between Business Schools and Organizational Ethics and Compliance Programs Thomas White, Director, Center for Ethics and Business, Loyola Marymount University There is a point at which theoretical and practical meet, and when this is coupled with a fresh and youthful excitement, great things happen. The annual student business ethics competition hosted by the Center for Ethics and Business at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles is a case in point. With more than 200 executives from a variety of companies serving as judges, students from around the world compete in debates that bridge the gap between the academic and business worlds. In this session, the team from McGill University will reprise their presentation that won the 2008 event: “Rio Tinto Alcan, Sustainable Ethics and Local Community Development.” The 2008 competition attracted more than 30 undergraduate and graduate teams from the U.S., Canada, Hungary and Turkey. Starting in 2009, the ECOA and LMU will jointly sponsor the competition, with the contest held in conjunction with the annual ECOA conference.
